Five design proposals were revealed for Manhattan's far West Side, where Mayor Bloomberg wants to build a new business district more than twice the size of the World Trade Center complex. The project will create a 4-acre park in the center of the boulevard that will connect new office and residential space planned for the West Side rail yard. Hudson Yards Development Corp. is overseeing this project as well as an extension of the No. 7 subway line. The area was rezoned for up to 24 million square feet of office space and 13,500 new units of housing, and the entire project is being paid for with $3 billion in bonds. A winning design will be chosen in October.
