An 85 story mixed hotel and residential tower is planned to be built next to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Some are concerned that the height of the new building (1,250 feet) may overshadow the original MoMA building as well as block sunlight on the sidewalks and streets below. The plan has already been approved by the Manhattan Borough President and will be voted on by the City Planning Commission in September 2009.
